Village Bride’s owner and designer Julie Mitchelmore believes that choosing your wedding dress should be an absolutely dream experience. So, when you are trying on wedding dresses at Village Bride, as Julie does all the appointments herself, you get an honest, expert opinion from a wedding dress designer, whether you are buying an off-the-peg bridal gown or thinking of commissioning her to create your absolute dream dress for you. Julie has twenty two years of invaluable design experience solely in bridal wear, and therefore really understands which styles will best suit your shape, and how the different fabrics and the way that these are cut can flatter your figure, hence saving you hours of traipsing around different bridal shops looking for that elusive ‘dream dress’. This means that everyday is a ‘Designer Day’ at Village Bride.

Village Bride brides are very pampered brides, as we pride ourselves on going that little bit further. All brides receive, included in the service, advice on style, hair, and the total finished look. We pride ourselves on providing friendly, honest, helpful and experienced advice, and can recommend top professionals for all aspects of your wedding planning.

Julie is very spontaneous in the way that she works, and enjoys getting to know her brides and their personality. “I feel that every dress I design tells a story” she says, “because it is the Brides themselves who actually inspire me to create the individuality of each gown.”

Julie first started designing and making clothes for herself, and later her friends, when her father bought her first sewing machine for her eleventh birthday! She soon realised that fashion design was the only career for her. After gaining valuable retail and customer service experience, she opened her first wedding shop in 1988, in the centre of Stockport, before moving to Village Bride’s current beautiful location in Marple Bridge some 14 years ago.
